These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) establish the legal relationship between you and Eden: People+Planet (“Eden,” “we,” “us,” “our”) regarding your use of our website (giving.eden-plus.org), donation processing, account management, and related services.

By accessing our website, creating an account, or making a donation, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our website or services.

1. Use of Website

Permitted Use

You agree to use giving.eden-plus.org only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not:

  • Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others
  • Interfere with the function or security of the website
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or information
  • Harass, threaten, defame, or demean any person or organization
  • Transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Prohibited Activities

Prohibited activities include but are not limited to:

  • Accessing or attempting to access unauthorized areas of the website

Suspension of Access

2. Donations & Contributions

Authorization to Charge

By making a donation, you authorize Eden to charge your specified payment method (credit card or bank account). You represent that you are authorized to use the payment method and that the information you provide is accurate.

Donation Processing
  • Timing: Donations are processed immediately unless you specify a future date or set up a recurring subscription
  • Currency: All donations are processed in US dollars
  • Fees: Eden does not charge additional fees for donations; Stripe processes payments securely
  • Cancellation: One-time donations cannot be canceled after processing; recurring donations can be canceled anytime through your account
Tax Deductibility
  • Eden: People+Planet is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID: 95-4804581)
  • Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law
  • You will receive a donation receipt via email for tax purposes
  • Consult your tax advisor regarding the tax treatment of your specific donation

Eden is not responsible for tax consequences of your donation.

No Refunds Policy

Donations are non-refundable and final. In exceptional circumstances (such as duplicate charges or unauthorized transactions), refunds may be granted at Eden’s sole discretion. Contact info@eden-plus.org to request consideration for a refund.

Campaign-Specific Donations

When you donate to a specific campaign or partner, you authorize Eden to:

  • Use your donation for that campaign as described
  • Reallocate your donation if the campaign concludes or circumstances change
  • Combine donations across campaigns for reporting and efficiency
  • Communicate with you about your designated campaign

3. Recurring Donations

Setup & Confirmation

Recurring (monthly) donations are set up through your account:

  • Automatic Processing: Your donation is processed automatically on the date you select each month
  • Confirmation: You receive an email confirmation of each recurring donation
  • Modification: You can modify your amount or payment method anytime through your account
Billing Cycle
  • Recurring donations are processed on the same date each month (e.g., if you start on the 15th, you’re charged on the 15th)
  • If your date falls on a day that doesn’t exist in a given month (31st in February), the charge processes on the last day of that month
  • You are responsible for maintaining valid payment information
Cancellation

You can cancel your recurring donation anytime:

  1. Log into your account at giving.eden-plus.org
  2. Navigate to “My Subscriptions” or “Recurring Gifts”
  3. Select the recurring donation and click “Cancel”
  4. Your cancellation is effective immediately

No cancellation fee applies. You can reactivate a canceled gift at any time.

Payment Method Expiration

If your payment method expires or becomes invalid:

  • We will attempt to process your donation using the expired method
  • If processing fails, we will email you to update your payment information
  • If you do not update your payment method, your recurring donation will be suspended
  • Your recurring donation will resume once you update your payment method

4. User Accounts

Account Creation

To use certain features of our website, you must create an account:

  • You provide your email address as your username
  • You create a secure password
  • You provide accurate and complete information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
Account Responsibility

You agree to:

  • Maintain accurate and current account information
  • Use your account only for lawful purposes
  • Not share your login credentials with others
  • Notify us immediately of unauthorized account access
  • Accept responsibility for all activity under your account

Eden is not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from your disclosure of your password to third parties.

Account Suspension

Eden reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these Terms or our policies
  • Your account is used for fraudulent or unauthorized purposes
  • Your payment method is repeatedly declined
  • We believe your account poses a security risk
  • We are required by law to do so

We will provide notice of suspension when possible, except in cases involving fraud or security threats.

Account Termination

You can close your account anytime by contacting info@eden-plus.org. Upon termination:

  • Your recurring donations will be canceled
  • Your account information will be retained as required by law for tax/compliance purposes
  • Your account will no longer be active for making new donations
  • Historical donation records will be maintained for tax and organizational purposes

5. Payment Processing & Security

Payment Methods

Eden accepts:

  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
  • Bank account transfers via ACH
Payment Processing
  • All payments are processed through Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 compliant payment processor
  • Eden never stores your full credit card number or banking details
  • Stripe handles all sensitive payment information securely
  • Payment information is transmitted via encrypted HTTPS connection
Payment Disputes

If you believe a charge is erroneous or fraudulent:

  • Contact us at info@eden-plus.org immediately
  • Include the transaction date, amount, and reason for the dispute
  • We will investigate and work with Stripe to resolve the issue
  • Do not dispute charges directly with your bank or card issuer without first contacting us
Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback with your financial institution without attempting to resolve the issue with Eden first:

  • You may lose access to your account
  • Future donations may be declined
  • You may be liable for chargeback fees
  • We reserve the right to take further action

We prefer to resolve payment disputes directly with you.

6. Intellectual Property

Website Content

All content on giving.eden-plus.org—including text, graphics, logos, images, and software—is the property of Eden or its content providers and is protected by international copyright and intellectual property laws.

Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view website content for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not:

  • Reproduce or copy content without permission
  • Modify or create derivative works
  • Distribute, sell, or transfer content to third parties
  • Use content for commercial purposes
User-Generated Content

If you submit comments, testimonials, or other content to our website:

Governing Law

  • California State or Federal Court (for other disputes)
Attorney’s Fees

If we prevail in any legal action, you may be responsible for reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs.

11. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision will be severed and the remaining provisions will continue in full effect.

12. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Eden regarding your use of our website and services. Any prior understandings or agreements are superseded by these Terms.
